Contact lens fitting and aftercare

Measuring the eye, choosing the lens, and teaching the handling.

  • sixty minutes
  • $125

A contact lens prescription is not the same as a spectacle prescription and cannot be converted from one. The curve of the front of the eye, the size of the cornea and the quality of the tear film all decide which lenses will sit well, and the fitting is the appointment where that is measured rather than guessed.

What this includes

  • The shape and size of the front of each eye
  • How much tear you make and how fast it evaporates
  • A trial lens worn in the practice and looked at on the eye
  • As long as it takes to get one in and out yourself, which is the part people dread
  • A follow-up two weeks later, before any long supply is ordered
  • A yearly check while you keep wearing them

What this is not

  • Not everybody can wear them, and a dry or scarred eye is a reason we will say so
  • We will not supply lenses against a prescription that has expired without seeing the eye
