Low vision

An hour spent on the tasks you want back, not on the chart.

  • sixty minutes
  • $155

When sight cannot be corrected further with an ordinary lens, the question stops being how small a letter you can read and becomes which particular things you have stopped doing. Reading a bank statement, seeing a face across a table, cooking safely, following a score. Magnification, lighting, contrast and position are the four levers, and lighting is the one people underestimate.

What this includes

  • A list, made by you, of what you want back and in what order
  • Magnifiers tried on the actual thing you want to read rather than on a card
  • Lighting, which is free to change and does more than most devices
  • Electronic magnification where the task needs it
  • How to get to us and back, which is often the real obstacle

What this is not

  • Nothing here restores sight that has been lost
  • We do not certify anybody as sight impaired; that is done elsewhere and we will say where
